First Aid Responder Course

Certified by PHECC (Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council)


The course aims to equip learners with the practical skills, knowledge and competencies to provide first aid and life-saving support in an accident situation. 


NOTE: This course replaces the old QQI Occupational First Aid Course

Course Objectives:

The overall objective of First Aid is to:

  • Save life
  • Prevent conditions getting worse
  • Promote recovery

Course Content:

    o   Patient Assessment

    o   Incident Procedures

    o   Cardiac First Response- Community

    o   Common medical emergencies

    o   Injury management and shock

    o   Care of the unconscious patient

    o   Burns and electrical injury care

    o   Hypothermia and hyperthermia

    o   Information management

    o   Communications

    o   The well-being of the First Aid Responder

    o   Assessments

Course Duration & Fee:

 

        Duration:   3 days 
      Time: 9 am - 4.30 pm
      Fee: 270 per person
   Fee includes: tuition, documentation, assessment and PHECC registration
 

Accreditation & Certification:

 

Participants who successfully pass the assessments will be issued with a PHECC First Aid Responder Certificate. The certificate is valid for two years and indefinitely on attending a Refresher Course every two years.



PHECC (Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council) is the statutory agency and the regulator for all pre-hospital emergency medical care in Ireland.
