Safe Pass Course (SOLAS)

It is essential that workers have a basic knowledge of health and safety to make them aware of the inherent dangers on work sites so that they will not be a risk to themselves or to their co-workers who work alongside them.

Course Duration:

Duration: 1 Day

Time:        8am - 5pm (late arrivals will not be admitted) 

Number of Delegates:

Minimum - 8
Maximum - 20

Course Content

  • The reasons for promoting safety
  • Health and Safety at Work Legislation
  • Accident reporting and emergency procedure
  • Accident prevention
  • Health and Hygiene
  • Manual handling
  • Working at heights
  • Working with electricity, underground and overhead services
  • Use of hand held equipment and tools
  • Personal Protective Equipment
  • Safe use of vehicles
  • Noise and vibrations
  • Excavations and confined spaces

Course Requirements:

On the day of the course participants must:

  • Be at least 16 years old
  • Bring two passport size photographs
  • Have their Irish PPS number
  • Have photo ID (Old Safe Pass Card, driving license, passport, etc)
  • Have a reasonable proficiency in English


Safe Pass Card

At the end of the course each participant who passes the assessment is given a completion letter which is valid until the Safe Pass Card is issued by SOLAS.

The Safe Pass Card is valid for 4 years.

        Course available both on a public and in-company basis.
